Exploring Somersport: Somerset's Premier Outdoor Sports Complex


    Somersport Park in Somerset, Kentucky, offers a straightforward outdoor experience for families, athletes, and casual visitors. Located at 300 Pumphouse Road, this 17-acre park is managed by Somerset Parks & Recreation.

    Soccer Fields

    The park features soccer fields that host local youth leagues. These fields are maintained for community use and are available for reservation. To book, contact Somerset Parks & Recreation at 606-679-1860.

    Playground

    Somersport Park houses the largest playground in the city's park system. It includes ramps, a rocking boat, sensory equipment, a 25-foot-tall viewing tower, a large bluefish bridge, slides, swings, and a wheelchair-accessible Ten Spin. citeturn0search5

    Walking Track

    A paved walking track encircles the park, suitable for walking, jogging, or running. The track is accessible and open to all visitors.

    Picnic Shelters

    Two shelters are available for rent from March 1 through November 1. Each shelter includes power, running water, tables, and grills. They are located near the playground and restrooms. Reservations can be made by calling 606-679-1860. citeturn0search0

    I came across this great little article by The City of Somerset Tourism Department on a series of movies that are being filmed in Somerset . That article was written back in April of 2023 so I'm quite a bit late to the party.  It's still highly unlikely you've heard of this broadly in Somerset. So why has a filmmaker with ties to Lifetime decided to come to our small town? The answer is the Kentucky Entertainment Incentive (KEI) Program . This program offers tax credits to film and television productions that shoot in Kentucky. The program has been very successful in attracting film and television productions to the state, and it has helped to create jobs and boost the economy.
